Zaanse Schans ~ The Netherlands

The lovely and unique Zaanse Schans in the Netherlands is one of the most charming villages we have ever visited.
It was quite touristy during the day but mostly locals in the afternoons and evening.  So utterly scenic and picturesque.

We stayed in the lovely Heerlijck Slaapen op de Zaanse Schans and it was very authentic and spacious.  We learned a lot about customer service and graciousness in this B&B.
Since we were the first guests to arrive for the day, she showed us every room and let us take our pic.

We had lunch at the D’Swarte Walvis (Black Whale) and I ordered my first ever Mustard soup which was wonderful.

There is also a distillery that makes the best lemon liqueur I have ever tasted.  De Tweekoppige Phoenix has a tasting room and a liquor store in a rustic, authentic setting.
